Musical abitily is something that some people have, and other people don't. Some believe that not everyone can have this ability, but I think that if someone works hard enough at it, they can become a musician. They may not be the best at it, but they can do it.
Musical ability runs in my family. My aunt, Daria, and her husband are both music teachers. My mother and many of her siblings also were involved in music.
As I said in my "life story," I have been involved in music for a long time. I actually started down the musical path before I even left England. At my primary school, we had recorder classes. Once I moved back to the states, I found out that schools here had similar classes, except they called recorders, song flutes.
I started playing flute first. In elementary school there weren't that many choices in starting instruments. But my mother had played the flute, so she passed her flute down to me, and I started.
I picked up the Baritone in 7th grade, mainly to get back at my band teacher for not letting me into the higher band. I had been told the year before that there would be auditions, then when I got there, they told me the audition was to spend a year in the lower band.
Then I picked up trumpet because, after I switched to baritone, the band director asked me if I wanted to be in the Jazz band. I figured that might be fun, so I gave it a try. It ended up to be lots of fun, and it helped me out when I went to high school and was a part of the marching band because it gave me an option as to what to play, so I wouldn't have to try to march with the big baritone.
Throughout all this band stuff, I also got into singing. I had always loved singing on my own, so I started taking vocal music classes in school. At first they had me singing soprano. eventually I moved down to singing alto, because I have an ear for harmonies.
Once I joined the all female choir at Wood, Felyricani as we were called, I found the part I was made to sing. Second Soprano. I've been singing that part ever since then. Either that, or Alto if the song desn't call for a sopII part. Every now and then I get stuck singing first Soprano. I don't usually like doing that, but I can. I have a relatively wide range vocally. I forget the actual note values for the range, but if I ever figure it out again, I'll include it.
As for musical interest, I have quite a bit, and a wide variety. The only styles of music that I don't really listen to are rap and blue grass. I don't listen to much classical either, but I listen to that more than the other two.
Below I've listed some sites about some of my favorite artists and bands.
