She Lies

In the darkness
She lies.
Her words flitter and swirl
Among the shadows of the demons in her mind.

She whispers softly as
She lies.
Her breath unnaturally cold flowing over his skin
As she travels up his body, over his neck, to his ear.

Sweet nothings are just that.
She lies
Pulling him with her
Over her, into her.

She says she'll take him to heaven.
She lies,
But he wants to believe,
He wants to be there.

Her anticipation grows as
She lies.
Above her, he cries out and she moves to him.
His cries change, desperate, then stop all together.

Beside him
She lies,
Wiping his life from her lips,
As he lies, pale and cooling.
