The crackling of the flames.
The sound of the rain drops against my window.
All so calming,
All so soothing,
All to help me forget my pain,
All to help me forget my fears.

The wind rustling through the trees.
The birds singing their songs.
I imagine being there,
Forever,
Without the pain,
Without the fear.

The humming of the engine.
The sounds of the road.
I drive, spending my time,
Thinking,
Remembering the pain,
Remembering the fear.

The crashing of the waves against the rocks.
The sound of the water trickling back out to sea.
I stand there,
Smiling,
Forgetting the pain,
Forgetting the fear.
