~Taken from a past conversation~I'm from a very small village. There was, at most, 50 people who lived there, and I was just a common peasant. I helped my mother with the garden and the house while my father worked on a farm down the road. Shortly after I turned 17 about 9 years ago, the prophet in our village approached me and informed me of a vision that he had had. He told me that there was a task that I had to perform, but he couldn't tell me what that was, only that I had to go out into the world, and I may never know what the task was, but it would be something that I would naturally do. And so I talked with my parents, and like parents they were sad that I would be leaving, but they encouraged me to go. I gathered a few things that were important and some things that were necessary. I left town the next morning with only a few sets of clothes, my father's dagger which I wear here all the time . . . *lifts up her skirt to reveal the dagger strapped to her calf* . . . my mother's ring . . . *holds out her right hand, showing a silver ring with a pale purple stone in it which is glowing softly at the moment* . . . and the last thing I took was a silver and gold butterfly hair piece that was given to me by an old witch that I met while wandering through the forest by our village when I was a child. I don't know why I kept it, I just felt like it was important. *looks at Dhari a moment* what do you mean by "crossed over"? *continues with her story* After I left the village, I spent about a year or so wandering the land and I visited so many different places. I usually stayed in small towns and villages, getting to know the people seeing if that was a place that felt right for me to live. Eventually, I stumbled upon this one village, and instantly I knew that it was the place I was meant to be. I don't recall ever hearing the name of the village. It was hidden away so it may not have even had a name, but it was built next to the most beautiful lake I had ever seen. It was there that I met Damian's father and eventually my husband. Ashtar was the bartender at the village's tavern, and Damian's father was just a regular there. Being as young as I was, I didn't know much about courtship practices I guess, and I made a mistake. I didn't see what I was supposed to see, but that's how Damian came about. *looks at the now burnt out candle, watching the smoke curl up through the air* It seems like so much has happened in only 9 years. I haven't been back to my home village since I left, I think my parents are still alive though. *looks back at Dhari* But that's basically where I came from. ![]()
The pregnancy was unnatural, and by morning, she had given birth to Damian. Damian grew into a man within a matter of days. Ashtar was understanding and accepted Damian as his own son. Damian is now an older brother. Kayla gave birth to twins on October 13th of last year. Between the tavern that she runs and Komei and Kalana-Myun, she doesn't have time for much travelling, but she doesn't mind. She missed out on all the joys of raising a child with Damian, and now she has two to play with. Deacon helps around the tavern, but there are still a lot of details to take care of, and Rose and Ashtar are always away. Kayla was born July 29th, 28 years ago. She stands a little under 5'8" tall with dark blonde hair which she usually keeps braided. Her violet eyes seem to see right to the core of any situation, though sometimes they hide behind a pair of reading glasses. Someday, once the twins are grown, she will travel again. Maybe she'll even try to go back to visit her home town. |
